Le Creuset Enamel-on-Steel Whistling 1-4/5-Quart Teakettle, Cherry

Great Looking Tea Kettle
Let me preface this review by saying I picked mine up refurbished with a large cosmetic gouge in the lid. The price was $25 because of the flaw and I figured that over years of use, I'd likely ding it up anyways. I think this teapot is far superior to the OXO teapot that it replaced.

First of all, it has a classic look which makes for a great accessory in the kitchen. Second, the steel is thick and durable - the build quality is very sturdy and you can tell it will last. From a functionality standpoint, mine heats water quickly and keeps the water hot for a long time. The whistle sounds like a teapot should, a nice high pitched scream. Some have complained of leaking but I confess, I have not seen this issue in 3 months of daily use.

The reason for four stars is the price. I feel the $25 I spent was a steal but the $100 retail seems ridiculous to me. I'd ding it more but after searching for a really cool looking teapot, this pot is the best looking pot I...

Good Kettle - Sick Whistle
The kettle is great and sure looks good. The whistle needs a lot to be desired as it is just too soft to hear at any distance away.

These guys should stick to making oven ware....
I bought this for my wife 2 years ago and I just decided after looking at the Brillo marks on the inside for the last time - I was making a cup of tea for myself this evening - that this thing has to go! It's amusing to be looking for a new red teapot for my wife for Christmas and see this thing come across my screen - yikes. This inside is so rusty that I skipped it and boiled water in the microwave...I hate microwaved tea water....it tastes different (yes, it's in my head I know, but I would still rather boil it on the stove).

The handle for the lid has deformed, the whistle has dropped off sometime last year, and something inside the lid is rattling...although, on a good note, the red is still "red", which is all it has going for it at this point. I would not buy another.....
